From bookselling to publishing
Our Journey
Started as a small bookshop with a vision to serve Hyderabad's student community. Grew over the decades into a trusted multi-outlet bookstore brand across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Entered the publishing business, launching the company's own study materials after seeing firsthand the gaps students faced in exam preparation.
Launched Spectrum Publications, pioneering the “Spectrum Series” of study material aligned to the JNTU and Osmania University syllabus.
Launched Pharmaplus Publications to serve the growing demand from pharmacy and life sciences students, publishing textbooks and study material for B.Pharmacy and related courses.
Opened a dedicated, state-of-the-art printing press in Uppal, Hyderabad, bringing the full process — from raw materials to finished books — in-house.
Introduced the Spectrum All-in-One Journal for Engineering Students, becoming a trusted companion for B.Tech students across JNTU Hyderabad, Kakinada and Anantapur.
Formally registered as SIA Publishers & Distributors Pvt. Ltd., consolidating publishing divisions across engineering, pharmacy, MBA and other faculties under one company.
Launched universalbooks.com, the brand's online bookstore, and expanded publishing into B.Com and M.Pharmacy titles aligned to Osmania University's syllabus.
Launched Kaanuka, a stationery manufacturing line of notebooks, and expanded into school-textbook printing for the Telangana and Tamil Nadu governments, competitive exam books, and academic dictionaries.
Extended the Spectrum All-in-One series to Polytechnic Diploma courses and published practice papers for CBSE, Intermediate, BBA, BDS, MBBS and MBA — including the brand's first titles for Anna University, Tamil Nadu.
Published books for TS-IPE, EAMCET, IIT-JEE and NEET, extended into SSC books for Classes 6–10, and began publishing undergraduate textbooks across Telangana's state universities.

That same footpath now sits directly across from the Universal Book Showroom in Koti. The street did not change. The stall became a showroom.
